Doh!
By the time you read this, I’ll have likely already heard that sweet, sweet word out of the surround-sound speakers at one of Lakes 10′s 10 movie theaters.
The Simpsons Movie makes its nationwide big-screen debut today (Friday, July 27, 2007), and I couldn’t be more amped up for it.
I don’t laugh out loud too often when I watch TV, except when I watch "The Simpsons." They’re 18 seasons in with no signs of slowing down.
The movie got five stars in one of the reviews I read (not that it matters, I would’ve seen it anyway). I didn’t even know they gave five stars when rating films. I thought they hit the ceiling at four. Maybe the movie is so good film critics bucked the system to accommodate its true awesomeness.
My father-in-law rates a movie’s quality by "Robocops" with a max of four. Robocop is his favorite film of all time and "the benchmark" (his words) for which all movies should be rated. For example, if a movie gets three Robocops, that means it’s three times better than Robocop, yet it could never surpass Robocop as his favorite movie.
He recently gave The Departed and Casino Royale four Robocops, which is pretty special because he doesn’t hand out many four-Robocop honors.
He gave one of my favorite movies, 300, a measly two Robocops. We didn’t speak for days.
Speaking of 300, it finally comes out on DVD on Tuesday. I love that movie. It makes me feel a whole lot tougher than I am (not sure why). I’m going to get it at midnight so I can watch it right away.
I’m just hours away from 87 minutes of animated goodness.
Mmm… animated goodness.
How was the movie. How many Robocops would you give it?
-X-Mas
It was what I expected it to be. A funny movie. We’ll go 3 Robocops for this one.
